It is indeed a good project, this is the first time I have been ever asked to give an opinion."

Gemin-i.org is UK-based charity working to improve education in over 90 countries.

We have developed innovative technology which we are using to help children around the world work together to become active global citizens.

Children of all ages take part in these projects. They learn about global issues and the role they can play to bring about change.

Gemin-i.org Projects

We have run a large number of projects which have empowered young people to take action for a better world.

A recent example was the project run in partnership with humanitarian aid agency Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) around the atrocities in the Darfur region of Sudan. We worked with a total of 46 schools across 14 different countries, from the UK to Nepal. Students examined life in refugee camps and what factors affect the choices that organisations such as MSF have to make in terms of prioritising and saving lives. They then worked in teams to perform a role-play demonstrating their understanding of the impossible choices faced.

How you can help us

With the money raised by Sucata Run this year we are planning to run a project to raise awareness of Malaria. Students from over 100 schools around the globe will be able to explore the topic using the case study of Sierra Leone, where it is the biggest killer of children under five. They will explore the reasons why so many people still die from malaria and what is being done by humanitarian aid agencies to prevent this.

Through participation in this project, young people will be able to join the global effort against malaria. They will hear stories of how governments and aid organisations are fighting the disease, they will talk to other children in affected regions, and they will be given the opportunity to design their own awareness raising campaign on the theme of malaria prevention.

Each £1000 raised by teams taking part in this event will pay for five schools to take part in the project. The more schools that we can involve, the bigger an impact we can have around the world.
